Up and running ....the new Maine Illustrators Collective's website!

The Maine Illustrators Collective has a cool new website. Great bright colors easy access to member's  portfolios,  a cool rotating cartoon image on the pages, a RSS news feed from our news blog, and even a link to our store and the MEIC blog.

More than enough to get the members work noticed!

It was exciting being coordinator/art director during the design process from the beginning in September to the finish in February. As an art director it gave me a chance to work with some amazing talent ....from Letiica Plate's interesting original concepts for the logo, along with many other member's contributions, to our final choice in Robin Swennes's beautiful bright and perfect logo design.

With the  MEIC logo  designed everything just seemed to fall together...Robin Swennes and Joel  Zain Rivers took the lead by coming up with page layouts, Robin developed some really outstanding  webpages and then Ben Dixon, the Art Farm studio web and tech guy, brought into the mix his own expertise in graphic & web design ( ie: the bottom wave pattern, the links, the way to repeat the background, the rotating image, the final members' portfolio images, and the RSS newsfeed). Ending with Ben doing the uploading and  html coding and CSS to put the website on the net.

My input as coordinator on the website committee was limited to meetings, scheduling, approvals, and tweaking design, deciding on a substitute font for the original Champion font used for the logo, collecting and editing profiles and text, and asking members for images and lots of communication...typical art director stuff.

Interested in joining? The MEIC is a great group of hardworking, interesting illustrators and designers of all ages and backgrounds that always welcome new members!

Next MEIC meeting is in the spring in Portland and next art group art show (a steampunk show) coming up in June is at the Greenhand bookstore, in Portland. See you there!
